*Do you know what Slow First Page Load is?

Suggested page: Slow First Page Load Even With a CDN? Here’s Why It Happens

Slow first page load is the delay users notice when opening a website for the first time, before any visible content begins to appear. Even when a CDN is active, this pause can happen because the browser must complete DNS resolution before connecting to the CDN.

The loading process usually follows these steps:

  • The user enters the domain.
  • The browser performs a DNS lookup.
  • DNS returns the correct IP address.
  • The browser establishes a secure connection.
  • The CDN begins delivering content.

If DNS resolution takes too long, every following step is delayed. Repeat visits may feel faster because DNS information is cached. First-time visitors, however, must complete the full lookup process.

Common causes include a DNS provider with limited global infrastructure, long CNAME chains, poorly configured TTL values, and unnecessary DNSSEC overhead.
